About Elena
A Bay Area native, Elena Bruce received her dance training at competitive dance studios in Northern California. She specializes in contemporary, modern and floorwork based movement but also trains in Jazz, Ballet, Tap, and Hip Hop. She now teaches and choreographs for various competitive and non-competitive dance teams in both Northern and Southern California. Elena is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Dance at UCLA. She is a rising 4th year student, double minoring in Asian American Studies and Film and TV. Elena has had the privilege to be featured in multiple MFA pieces, Senior capstones, and WacSmash performances, centering around modern and contemporary dance. Elena trains regularly with Gracie Whyte, co-owner of Ground Grooves, in floorwork and modern. She has also been a part of UCLA’s Icarus Contemporary Company for all three years as an undergrad. Elena also trains in martial arts, primarily, Kung Fu, Krav Maga, Hapkido, and Silat both in Northern and Southern California. She competes in Kung Fu and plans to continue to earn higher certification in various other martial arts systems in the future.

Developing artistry, strength, enjoyment while being safe are my main goals when teaching dance.
I teach contemporary technique and choreography, improvisation, floorwork/strengthening, ballet, and jazz technique and choreography. I structure these classes to emphasize strengthening of the body so dancers can safely challenge themselves as they improve.
I focus on strengthening the whole body in as warm ups so that dancers can transition into choreography, improvisation, or aerobics more smoothly. I have experience teaching all ages from elementary to collegiate level.
I have danced competitively for 12 years and studied different realms of dance performance and choreography for 6 years. I also cross train in 5+ styles of martial arts which influence my dance artistry and aerobic training.
