About Tabassum
Hello! I’m Tabassum, a psychology graduate with a First-Class BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Clinical Mental Health Sciences from UCL. I have hands-on experience as a researcher within the NHS and across universities, where I’ve published reports and journal articles and contributed to projects on mental health, youth violence and health inequalities. Alongside research, I have clinical experience working directly with people. This includes supporting clients with addiction and complex health needs and working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in schools and healthcare settings. These experiences taught me the importance of empathy, patience and tailoring approaches to meet individual needs — skills I also bring into my tutoring. I’ve worked closely with underrepresented groups and understand the practical and ethical challenges of real-world research. This means I can not only help you understand theories and statistics but also share practical tips on ethics applications, proposals and project management with participants. I am often described as patient, understanding and supportive. I aim to create a positive learning environment where you feel confident asking questions and gradually building your knowledge. All in all, I am passionate about making psychology accessible and engaging, thus helping you succeed academically and feel more confident in your abilities.

My teaching style is supportive, interactive and tailored to each student’s needs. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps, whether that’s a tricky psychology theory, research method or statistical analysis. I believe learning works best when students feel confident and engaged, so I always encourage questions and active discussion to make topics stick. Lessons usually run for 60 minutes, though I can adapt depending on the student’s goals. A typical session includes a short recap, focused teaching on one or two key areas, fun practical exercises and a clear summary of takeaways. I hold a First-Class BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Clinical Mental Health Sciences from UCL, with hands-on experience in research (SPSS, NVivo, Jamovi), and applied mental health work across NHS England and universities. I can also provide guidance on ethics applications, research proposals and project management with participants, offering tips that go beyond the textbook. I’ve worked with young people, undergraduates, postgraduates and professionals, so I know how to adjust my approach for different levels of learning. My lessons are ideal for: ● GCSE & A-Level psychology students preparing for exams ● University students needing support with psychology, research methods, statistics, ethics or dissertations ● Professionals wanting to strengthen their understanding of research, data analysis or applied health topics Above all, my goal is to make learning exciting and confidence-building, so students leave each lesson ready to succeed :D

I was tutored by Tabassum during my A-levels and she honestly helped me so much. She really improved my essay writing and gave me the confidence to actually put my ideas down clearly. Her lessons were always interesting and made psychology way more engaging, which is a big reason why I decided to study it at uni. She also went the extra mile to support me with all my questions and even gave me really helpful advice on applying for uni. She’s super supportive, patient and always encouraging, and I felt like she really wanted me to do well.
