About Eleni

Throughout my educational journey, I have received support which has allowed me to reach my full potential. I would love the opportunity to be able to support you in achieving your potential, and helping you reach your own goals. Whether that is working towards a specific grade to meet grade requirements, or allowing yourself to be pushed further, I will support you in achieving the goals we set out together. My own experiences in education have led me to see tutoring as a team effort - I will work with you rather than against you, and my ultimate hope is to be able to see you succeed. This remains a core value of mine, and something which I focus on in my teaching.

I hold a BA in History, specialising in 20th Century Europe throughout my degree. I hold a particular interest in 20th Century Germany and understanding memory and identity during the Nazi period. In my spare time, I enjoy learning languages (having studied German as part of my degree, and with many bilingual friends), staying active, and immersing myself in music and live events. I also hold a MA in Stage and Production Management, working as a freelance Stage Manager.

About the lesson

Thank you for your interest in working with me! I'm excited to be able understand what you are looking for in a tutor, and hope that we will work together shortly! Your first session will be 45 minutes (this is a free trial), with following sessions lasting an hour. Changes to length of sessions can be discussed to meet your needs.

The initial lesson with me will be a discussion, where we can get to know each other and understand your reasoning for exploring tutoring as an option. I currently tutor GCSE and A Level History, and would also be open to tutoring anyone with an interest in one of my specialty topics. From this first meeting, I aim for us to -
- Have an agreed learning plan outlined for coming sessions. This would include what you would want to cover, and the teaching style which aligns with your goals.
- Have started a discussion surrounding the topic which you are looking for support with, where we can highlight problem areas, and also where your strengths lie! Identifying your strengths as well as worries is crucial, my role is to uplift you and allow you to gain confidence in your understanding.
- Agreed on any next steps before our next session together! This may range from completing a short exam question, or sending me notes.

Our sessions should flow like a discussion, and I will encourage you to lead in this discussion, and support you in continuing lines of argument, or ask you further questions to consider other arguments surrounding a topic. If recapping any topics within exam syllabi, this may follow a more traditional teaching approach, where I lead the discussion. However, I want all my sessions to remain an open discussion where questions can be asked, and where you can be comfortable in your knowledge and being present.

If you are at the revision stage of your learning ahead of exams, I adopt the use of mindmaps and similar revision techniques primarily in my teaching to be able to allow you to identify and understand links between events.
