About Joud
Hi! I’m Joud, a current PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering at UBC with a strong background in math, physics, and statistics. With several years of experience as both a student and a teaching assistant at the university level, I know how to break down complex topics into simple, understandable steps that actually stick. I have been a teaching assistant for many undergraduate courses at UBC Okanagan School of Engineering, including APSC 183, ENGR 401, ENGR 402, and ENGR 407. Whether you're preparing for an exam, catching up on missed concepts, or aiming to improve your grades, I’m here to help you build real confidence and lasting skills. I bring a calm, patient, and supportive teaching style, and I always adapt my lessons to your pace and goals. What you can expect from me is professionalism, structure, and a genuine investment in your success. I believe that anyone can master these subjects with the right guidance and I’m excited to help you get there. Let’s make math and science feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more empowering!

As an Engineering PhD student, I combine academic expertise with a practical, student-centered approach. My goal is not just to help students solve problems, but to help them understand concepts deeply and build long-term confidence.
My methodology includes:
- Step-by-step breakdowns of complex topics
- Real-world examples to make abstract concepts relatable
- Visual aids and analogies to strengthen conceptual understanding
- Frequent check-ins to adapt lessons in real time based on student progress
I believe that no two students learn the same way so I tailor every lesson to fit the individual.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
- I bring the perspective of both a student and a researcher, knowing what it's like to struggle with a concept and how to master it.
- I focus on clarity, patience, and encouragement, creating a space where students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes.
- I integrate real-world applications, helping students see why what they’re learning matters.
I teach:
- Middle school to university-level students
- Courses like Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability, Statistics, and Mechanics
- Students preparing for standardized exams (SAT, AP, IB, university entrance)
- Learners who need support catching up, preparing for exams, or deepening understanding
