About Emily

Hi, I am Emily Tang, a first-year student at UBC (University of British Columbia). I like to paint, make handicrafts, watch movies, and do sports (running and swimming) in my free time. Since middle school, I have been tutoring my own sister and cousins in Chinese, mathematics, English, and other subjects. I am especially interested in ancient Chinese poetry and literature and often share my thoughts after reading with my friends. If you are also interested in Chinese culture, don't hesitate to share it with me :-)

About the lesson

I am happy to teach students of all levels in Chinese, from new learners to professionals who may want to ask for more suggestions in their academic journey of Chinese learning.
My lessons can be fully customized. Here I am just listing some options for reference:
- Teaching students to speak Chinese from the basics
- Teaching students to write out simple characters
- Teaching students to read simple stories written in Chinese
(These options are for first-time learners. I will try to make the lessons easy and simple, so students will not feel stressed.

- Learning more complex syntax and trying to apply it in daily conversations
- Learning more complex vocabulary and trying to use it in conversations
- Writing out complete Chinese sentences and even simple paragraphs.
- Being able to comprehend conversations from listening
(These options are for students who have some experience in learning Chinese already.)

For advanced learners, I can help with literature analysis, poetry comprehension, language in formal/academic writing, novel reading and analysis, etc.

Before lessons, please inform me of the age and (possibly) personality (if you want to sign up for your child/children) so I can figure out a way that suits him/her the best. (*I am a psychology student and am considering minor in education.) :-)
