About Malena
I’m a Clinical Psychology PhD candidate currently completing my internship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. My research focuses on innovative approaches to mental health—including my dissertation on the effectiveness of dance for improving college student well-being. Over the past five years, I’ve worked with students from elementary school through college, supporting them in math (elementary, middle school, algebra, geometry), English, Arabic, and essay writing—including college admissions essays. My teaching journey has taken me from classrooms in Kaihura, Uganda, where I taught Primary 5 students, to Duke University, where I tutored in both academic subjects and dance. In addition to academic support, I’m a 200-hour registered yoga teacher offering personalized embodiment and mindfulness-based sessions. I bring a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and encouraging approach to all of my work—meeting each student where they are to foster both academic growth and emotional resilience.

My tutoring sessions are personalized, supportive, and grounded in both academic expertise and whole-student care. I tailor each lesson to the student’s goals and learning style—whether we're building foundational math skills, strengthening writing and language abilities, or perfecting a college essay.
In addition to academic tutoring, I offer stand-alone embodiment and de-stress sessions grounded in trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness—drawing from my experience as a registered yoga teacher and clinical psychology doctoral trainee. These sessions support students in developing focus, emotional regulation, and confidence. Upon request, I’m also happy to integrate mindfulness and embodiment tools into tutoring sessions to enhance academic engagement and well-being.
