About Ben
I have a Masters Degree in Songwriting from Bath Spa University and have a YouTube channel which offers songwriting tips, techniques and challenges. I have been a songwriter since my teens and am now in my mid-forties - so quite a while now!
In 2011 a song I submitted to the UK Songwriting Contest was selected as a Finalist and since then I completed my Masters and began to look at sharing with others the experience and learning I have gained over the years.

Hi, my name is Ben Murdock (aka The Songwriter Coach). I am a UK based Songwriting Coach with a Masters Degree in Songwriting.
Having spent years writing songs and researching the songwriting process I've found that there are many tools, techniques and tips to songwriting. But more importantly, I've discovered that the single most important element of songwriting is the individuality of the songwriter. We are all original - and if we use that, our songs will be original, too. And if we learn the tools and techniques along the way, our songwriting will go to the next level.
If you're a songwriter - or want to be a songwriter - I want to help you find and bring out your best songwriter.

I can help you write meaningful, powerful lyrics. If you struggle with finding inspiration or how to easily generate fresh, brilliant ideas then we can work on that. If you'd like to know how to use imagery or how simple tricks with grammar can fundamentally elevate your lyrics, then there are lessons for that too.
If finding killer rhymes which naturally fit is your achilles heel, we can cover it.
We can look at how to write the music with the use of motifs, finding the sound you're looking for, song structure, hooks, bridges and, of course, there is always how to fit the music to the lyric (or vice versa).
It's all about drawing the best material out of you with simple techniques so that your songs are what YOU want to say HOW you want to say it.
