About Sarah

I am a dedicated OCR A-Level Law and AQA Sociology tutor/student

Having studied these subjects extensively myself, I understand the specification, exam requirements and common areas where students struggle. I have developed a large collection of resources including past-paper analysis, model answers, examiner feedback, consolidation notes, essay structures, retrieval practice activities, and revision materials designed to improve both understanding and exam performance.

Lessons are tailored to each student's needs and focus on building long-term understanding rather than short-term memorisation.

Alongside my academic interests, I have experience teaching Arabic and working with children in educational settings. Through this experience, I have developed strong communication skills, patience and the ability to adapt explanations to different learning styles and ages.

I believe that success comes from combining subject knowledge with effective study methods, structured support, and consistent practice. My aim is to help students gain confidence, improve their grades, and become independent learners.

I offer specialised OCR A-Level Law and AQA Sociology tutoring built around evidence-based learning techniques designed to improve long-term retention, exam performance and confidence.

My lessons are highly personalised and structured around active recall, retrieval practice, spaced repetition and dual coding. Rather than simply teaching content, I focus on training students how to think like examiners and how to consistently apply knowledge under exam conditions.

For OCR A-Level Law, as a past student I have analysed every past paper and examiner report, identifying common mistakes, recurring question patterns, and high-frequency topics. Students are guided through model answers, scenario application drills, AO1, AO2 and AO3 skills, issue spotting, legal reasoning, essay structure and exam technique. We use flowcharts, visual doctrine maps, mini-case tests, colour-coded structures, tables, and retrieval prompts to strengthen understanding and memory.

For AQA Sociology, lessons focus on developing strong evaluation skills, methods in context, item analysis, theory comparisons and essay planning. Students use comparison grids, evaluation chains, ideology diagrams, theorist comparison charts, visual essay plans and structured templates to master sociological arguments and improve written responses.

Every lesson is tailored to the student's current needs. Before each session, we discuss what topics they would like to focus on, areas they are covering in school, and any upcoming assessments. This allows lessons to complement classroom learning while targeting individual weaknesses.

I also provide guided homework, revision plans and active recall tasks between lessons. Students can receive reminders and structured revision activities in the days leading up to lessons to encourage consistent practice and long-term retention.

Alongside academic support, I recognise that factors such as stress, motivation, confidence, school pressure and bullying can affect learning. I aim to create a supportive environment where students can discuss challenges that may be impacting their studies and develop strategies to manage workload and maintain wellbeing.

My goal is not simply to help students pass exams, but to build lasting understanding, independent learning habits, and the confidence needed to achieve top grades.
