About Alisa
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, who recently graduated from high school with a 96% average in English. I have previous experience tutoring English with Go Kids in STEM. I have tutored half a dozen students in a variety of subjects, including English at the elementary and postsecondary level.

Seeing as I am trilingual (with my strongest language being English), I have experience interacting with the language as both a native speaker and as a language learner. I also have experience tutoring English at all ages, from elementary school children to university students. For younger students, I tend to prioritize acquiring vocabulary and confidence. I take turns reading short stories and listening to them read, to model good intonation and encourage them to copy me. For older students I prioritize having interesting, complex conversations and reading more difficult books such as the classics. Depending on the needs of the student I may focus on helping the student with their homework or on independent language exploration.
