About Max

I currently work as a Senior Legal Counsel for Airbus at its headquarters in Toulouse, France.

I graduated from the University of Waikato in 2013 and was admitted as a Barrister & Solicitor in NZ in 2014. Since this, I have also being admitted as a Solicitor in both New South Wales, Australia (2022) and England and Wales (2024). My admission to the English bar followed successfully passing SQE1 (first quintile).

My professional working career has taken me to work in both private practice and in-house, in places such as Auckland, London and France. My experience has covered numerous large-scale, complex and cross-border commercial transactions, including most recently in the aviation sector. My work in regional NZ law firms has however given me exposure to a wide range of commercial, corporate and employment work of all shapes, sizes and dynamics.

Teaching runs in my blood with my mum having taught for more than 30 years in schools and tertiary educational institutes. I share her passion for seeing students grow and succeed in their educational and professional life. My curiosity for learning and developing knowledge constantly drives my educational pursuits; not only in the law either. I am a fluent Spanish speaker and currently learning French.

About the lesson

I'm a dedicated and flexible teacher who values the creation of an environment that suits your personal learning style. Each class is tailored to your specific needs and preferences. Having lived and worked internationally, I've come to learn and appreciate the diversity in the way that each of us like to do things.

My main focus is on breaking down complex concepts into easy-to-understand blocks. The law can be a complex area, but we can make it easier to navigate by breaking down these complexities. I enjoy testing and assessing my students frequently so that progress can be tracked and learning needs identified. I have an open line policy and always encourage my students to reach out to me whenever if they have any questions or just want to have a discussion (or a friendly legal debate about recent case law!)
