About Chris
As a 21-year-old professional athlete, I take a sort of different approach to teaching. Here's a bit about me: -I've been rock/mountain climbing for essentially my whole life, which has led me to all sorts of crazy places around the world, like South America, Europe, and Canada. Experiencing these unique environments has taught me how to communicate with humans from many backgrounds. -In addition to climbing, I write both professionally, (usually as a journalist) and artistically. This has been a passion of mine since high school. I was always an Eng/Lit person over a math person. It's more creative! -I've worked as a climbing coach for several years, teaching young athletes of all ages both sport and life skills, meaning I have experience building curriculums and developing professional relationships.

I take a holistic approach to my teaching, beginning every lesson by outlining the student's goals, motivations, mindset, etc. Following a baseline idea of what the student wants, I develop the lesson to tailor to their needs, rather than using a blanket protocol. An example of my typical lesson looks as follows: -Introductions: (greetings, and a bit of chitchat to develop a trusting connection) -Today's Work: (Dialing in to what the student needs and wants to receive from this lesson) -Lesson Development: (Generating a lesson plan based on these needs; one that interests the student and is unique to them) -The Lesson: (Ex: diving into the AP LIT scoring rubric with a student who wants to write better essays for their AP class) -Final Thoughts: (Discussing pros/cons of lesson, how to incorporate this lesson into class, recurring sessions, etc.) I am happy to teach anything based on the English Arts, meaning essay writing, creative writing, journalism, poetry, spelling, grammar, reading comprehension, and test taking.

Because I travel often, I'm happy to make an extra commute somewhere for a small price which can be discussed in the moment.
