About Prachi
I used to live in the city of culture: Kolkata, and that's where I learnt Kathak for the first time. However, I developed a better understanding of its history and nuances from my Guru, Pandit Shri Kamal sir, in Mumbai.
After learning Kathak for years I cleared the official Prarambhik Pariksha (Level 1 examination) with a First Class grade, giving me the credibility to teach the basics of Kathak.
I continue to learn from my guru for future Kathak examinations. He continues to solidify my skills and mindset required to connect to this form well.

Hi! I am a certified Kathak dancer from India with a passion for sharing stories through teaching. Trained by Pandit Shri Kamal Bandil, I have learned Kathak's mesmerizing history, intricate footwork, and unique recitation techniques, which I plan to share with all my students.
Learning a dance form requires only one skill: Patience. The other skills such as strength, focus, and perseverance will be taught by me. My ideal class will be an hour long, beginning with a short theory session about Kathak, then teaching the basics of footwork, and expressions, reading the dance compositions, and ending with a mindful exercise.
This class is perfect for beginners interested in learning the foundational skills that Kathak is renowned for. I learned this dance form in a room full of girls who were 5-10 years younger than me and imbibed the teaching skills that my Guru used on them. I don't expect patience from my students without practicing the same myself. I am looking forward to seeing you all in my classes :)
