About William
I am a third year university student, looking for experience in the field of teaching and tutoring. As your tutor I aim to not only teach you the material, but to foster a critical-thinking approach towards the material. Philosophy and politics are real passions of mine and teaching you enables me not only further time to research it in my spare time, but the opportunity to take on different perspectives and opinions, a key element in philosophy.

The approach to tutoring I take is the learner-centred approach. I believe when it comes to essay-based subjects, especially philosophy, true understanding of the topic begins with one's own personal ideas and ethics. This is the same for politics. Essay based exams often require an individual to debate with their own ideas and thoughts in a critical manner. Being able to do this effectively, guarantees an impressed examiner.
Lessons can range from 1-2 hours or can be tailored to the individual's need.
My experience is limited to family, tutoring both my youngest sister with her GCSE's, and my oldest sister with her A-levels, which they are now undertaking confidently.
Lessons are primarily for GCSE and A-level students, but first and second year university students are also more than welcome.

I cannot recommend William as a tutor enough. I reached out to him as his friend, asking for help with a philosophy module as part of my law degree at the University of Oxford and his help was instrumental in helping me achieve a first - explaining things much better than my tutors. One of the standout qualities of William’s tutoring is his ability to explain complex philosophical concepts with remarkable clarity, he can distill intricate ideas into digestible information, making it accessible to me as a complete beginner. What truly sets William apart, however, is his dedication to fostering active engaging and critical thinking. Rather than just spoon-feeding me the information I needed, he expertly guided discussions, playing devils advocate and challenging my perspectives. This approach forced me to delve deep into the core of these philosophical arguments and defend my own views with conviction, and this exercise helped me to develop a thorough understanding of the subject. William’s talent for facilitating fruitful debates and meticulously explaining concepts is exemplary. He was patient, attentive and his passion for philosophy shone through with every answer to a question he gave me, igniting a similar enthusiasm in me. I am immensely grateful for the help William gave me, and I wholeheartedly recommend him as a philosophy tutor!
William is a mentor of mine who gave me invaluable support through my GCSEs, he is an expert in his subject area and explains concepts with the utmost precision and clarity.
