About Tommy
As previously mentioned I'm in my third and final year of my undergraduate degree studying Physics and Mathematics at Otago University. I have enjoyed teaching Maths, Physics and Piano to family friends towards the end of Secondary school and have continued throughout University.
The main reason I enjoy teaching numerical subjects is because I know how much the right teacher and a clear explanation can make or break them for the student. I wouldn't be in the position I am now If not for a number of passionate teachers throughout my education.

With Maths and Physics the most important concept when learning/teaching is that certain skills or concepts are established and reinforced before building up to more complicated ideas. It's also important that the student gets maximum exposure to actually solving questions rather than passively having concepts explained.
My past tutoring experience includes private NCEA Math and Physics tutoring, as well as running group tutorials for the paper PHSI191 (Biological Physics) at Knox College. A typical tutorial would last for 1-2 hours with a few short breaks to avoid burnout.
I can tutor Calculus and Physics for NCEA levels 1-3 as well as a few 100 level Maths and Physics Papers (PHSI191, MATH160, MATH170).
