About Cathal
My name is Cathal Stockmann. I am half Irish, half Dutch. I like playing games and sailing. Three years ago I started tutoring and I really enjoy explaining things in different ways, so that people suddenly understand something. It is also very rewarding to be able to ensure that people have less stress before their tests

When I start teaching, I first make sure that I have a good idea of my students current level. I always check whether they have specific questions about the material. If they do, we'll concentrate on answering them. If they don't come up with any questions, I run them (the pace depending on the time we have together) through the chapter. I let them do assignments. Either from the book, or ones I have made on the subject myself. Once the student understands the topic, we will work on reading, comprehending and answering questions. Of course I also check how much help the student needs with this first.
In short: I focus on what the student needs help with. So I always start by gauging where they stand and I adjust my plan appropriately.
