About Grace

Hi, my name is Grace.

Since leaving school in 2016, I have gained experience in teaching, mentoring and supporting students of all ages in classroom based environments in groups and on a 1 to 1 basis. I also have a wide range of experience working with pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. I decided to go into the field of education because I thrive when making an impact on the lives of other people, especially the next generation. I have an outstanding education history with A*-B grades in all GCSE and A-Level subjects that I took at school. I went through a traumatic event during one of my A-Level studies exam weeks and suffered a brain injury and PTSD. I am proud that despite these setbacks, I still managed to achieve A grades in the exams and it is because of this that I am passionate about showing people that anything is possible, even when the odds are against you!

Through working in a school I have seen first hand how young people can often give up if they fear failure or lack confidence that they have the ability to learn how to do something. After suffering a brain injury and having to relearn a lot of things within a short space of time, I am proficient in my knowledge of revision and exam techniques that can be used to help focus and ensure information retention/memory improvement for different types of learners. Something I always say to young people is that failure does not exist. You either succeed at something, or you learn. This encourages them to look at what could have gone better and improve the next time as well as see setbacks as an opportunity to learn rather than feel that they are incapable of doing a good job. I find tutoring and mentoring so rewarding for this reason because I am able to build confidence and help the individual become the best version of themselves academically and mentally. I look forward to impacting so many more young people in the near future!
