About Nana

Konnichiwa, Hajimemashite. Hello, nice to meet you! I’m originally from Kobe, Japan, and have lived in Tokyo, Beijing, and London. I speak Japanese, English, and a bit of Mandarin. I finished my master’s degree at King’s College London and Renmin University of China, and now live in the UK.
I like travelling and have visited 20 countries so far. I enjoy meeting new people, experiencing different cultures, customs, arts, and food.
I have two years of teaching experience online and in person at the University of Hawaii and King’s College London.
Even if you’re not very confident in your Japanese, don’t worry! I’ve mainly taught Japanese in English, so we can always switch to English. I’ll be always patient and slow down when you need it. I respect your motivation and courage to learn a new language, and I’m really happy you want to study my mother tongue:) I’m excited to be your language partner and learn with you:)

About the lesson

I totally get how hard it can be to keep motivated when learning a new language. So, I’d like to make our lessons enjoyable and encouraging, and create a relaxed atmosphere. In my two years of teaching, I’ve mainly taught beginners and intermediate students for speaking and grammar, but I’m very flexible and can adapt to whatever your needs, preferences, and levels are. In the first free trial, I’ll ask you what you’d like to learn and check your current Japanese level, but please take it easy; it’s not a strict placement test. Based on this trial, we can plan our study to match your needs, preferences, and level. If you’re a complete beginner and have no clue where to start with your Japanese study, we can practise daily Japanese conversation according to your interests. I have materials like “Minna No Nihonngo” and “Genki,” but we can also use other specific materials if you’d like. If you’re looking to brush up on your Japanese for exams or business, no worries! We can tailor our lessons to your needs, focusing on writing, reading, listening, or speaking. I used to help international students at my Japanese university with their J1 exams and job interviews, so I know what it takes.
