My teaching methodology is tailored for each individual. First, we will identify what you are wanting to work on and what areas you feel are your weakest. Then, I can construct a unique lesson plan where I will walk through particular concepts and ideas, following with examples and answers for you to work through. The lessons are for high school or university students wishing to have a better understanding of the area of organic chemistry.

If you are considering Dawson as your tutor for chemistry, understand this: you will be challenged — and you will be better for it. He and I were graduate chemistry students at the University of Alberta in the Dennis Hall research group, and I saw firsthand how seriously he treats chemistry as a science. He does not allow memorization without understanding, and he won’t accept vague reasoning or hand-waving through mechanisms. If you claim something is “obvious,” be ready to explain why. That intensity, however, is exactly why his students succeed. He teaches with clarity and precision, using the occasional clever analogy to make complex ideas stick. Having completed his PhD in Chemistry with flying colors, his depth of knowledge and lab mastery are unquestionable.
As a TA, he earned genuine respect from undergraduates because he pushed them to think critically, not just to pass exams. He holds high standards, but they come from a real commitment to your growth and competence. If you want an easy tutor, look elsewhere. If you want to truly understand chemistry, develop strong fundamentals, and build confidence that lasts beyond a single semester, choose Dawson. He will expect your best — and he will make sure you achieve it.He was a co-worker of mine, and he was a pleasure to work with. Always kind, thoughtful, curious to learn, and ready to help others. Besides his great personality, he is also a great chemist. Dawson is highly knowledgeable across all disciplines of organic chemistry and has mastered teaching at every level.
I've known Dawson for just a little over 5 years now. I met Dawson when I was an undergraduate student and he was a first-year graduate student in our organic chemistry laboratory. Dawson is an extremely knowledgeable person when it comes to chemistry, and especially organic chemistry. He is really kind and very respectful and cares about his student when he was a TA in organic chemistry. For myself, when I needed help understanding a particular concept in organic chemistry, he would always first assess what I understood first, then proceed to explain and teach me the parts that I did not understand. This is the reason why I think Dawson would make a great Superprof. He will make sure to get to the level of the student and then help them to go further. He is also extremely patient toward everyone, which is a very important feature to have as a tutor, especially when it comes to students that need more time to understand a particular concept.
