About Isabel-Anne
I am a passionate and dynamic professional with a Master’s Degree in Psychology (University of the Free State), as well as a Master’s in Business Leadership (University of South Africa). My years in Management Consulting, working for almost all the international big 5 Business Consulting houses, will stand me in good stead for this next phase of my people development career, namely TEFL.
In addition to my post-grad Psychology and Business qualifications, I am also qualified as a Neuro-linguistic Programming practitioner and have extensive experience in both Competency-based and Psychometric Assessments. I am a seasoned facilitator, trainer and executive coach. I also lectured ad hoc at the Business School of the University of the Free State.
I have extensive experience in eLearning, as well as knowledge of some Learning Management Systems.

Learning needs a context. Teaching a new language construct, be it grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and any of the 4 skills thus needs a relevant context to increase the learner’s understanding of the use and form. It is known that language is most memorable if it is personal, presented in all the modalities (see, hear, feel/do) and both fun and challenging. I believe in the teaching methods that address an emotional need in a relevant context via conversations (rather than just presentations) PLUS lots of practice, ranging from a very structured approach to a freer production one.
Depending on the student's level and needs I prefer a PPP structure and teaching method: Presenting the target language within a personal context, checking that they understand the use and form before exploring and drilling it. During Controlled Practice, the new language components are practiced in various 'safe' ways, while during the Production stage learners are ready and confident to use the new language in a freer and independent manner.
