About Andres

I hold a degree in English from Texas A&M University as well as a Master's in Education from Sam Houston State University, and have spent more than 20 years working in education, helping students grow in both skill and confidence. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with students of varying ability levels, supporting them as they develop stronger reading, writing, and communication skills.

My professional background as an educator and coach has taught me the importance of patience, preparation, and clear expectations. I understand that every student learns differently, and I take pride in adjusting my approach to meet individual needs. Whether a student needs help organizing an essay, improving grammar, or understanding reading assignments, I focus on creating a calm, supportive learning environment where progress feels achievable.

I am committed to professionalism, reliability, and clear communication with both students and parents. I come to each session prepared, focused, and ready to help students make meaningful progress. My goal is not only to help students complete assignments, but to give them tools and confidence they can carry into future classes.

My approach as a tutor is built on structure, clarity, and confidence-building. I believe that most students struggle not because they lack ability, but because they lack a clear system for understanding and organizing their ideas. My goal is to give students practical tools they can use independently, not just help them complete one assignment.

I use a step-by-step teaching method that focuses on breaking large tasks into manageable parts. Whether we are working on reading comprehension, grammar, or essay writing, I guide students through the process of understanding instructions, organizing ideas, drafting clearly, and revising thoughtfully. I emphasize active participation, asking students to explain their thinking so I can identify gaps and reinforce understanding.

A typical lesson begins with a brief review of the student’s current assignment or area of difficulty. From there, we identify one or two specific goals for the session. For writing assignments, this may include outlining an essay, strengthening a thesis statement, improving paragraph structure, or revising grammar and clarity. For reading comprehension, we focus on strategies such as identifying key details, understanding vocabulary in context, and summarizing main ideas. Each lesson ends with a short review of what was learned and clear next steps so the student can continue working independently.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my background as both an English graduate and a long-time educator and coach. My coaching experience has taught me how to motivate students, build confidence, and create structured learning plans that lead to steady improvement. I am patient, consistent, and focused on helping students build skills that last beyond a single assignment.

My lessons are designed for upper elementary, middle school, and high school students who need support in English, writing, reading comprehension, grammar, or study skills. I am especially well-suited to help students who feel overwhelmed by writing assignments, struggle to organize their thoughts, or need help building confidence in their academic abilities.
