About Rena
I have a lot of experience teaching English language learners in person, and now that I am a parent, I am hoping to do it from home. Here are some of the things that I have done.
-- taught in several countries
-- worked in American public schools and universities
-- helped students with test prep for graduation exams and for tests of English language skills such as the TOEFL
-- taught courses in academic skills such as writing for academic purposes
-- taught courses in basic English language skills such as pronunciation, grammar, and conversation and listening
-- provided push-in support for English language learners in many different subjects at the middle and high school level
-- taught sheltered courses in some subjects

I enjoy and have experience teaching English language learners of all ages and from many different cultures. For online lessons, an English conversational skill level of at least high beginner is best.
My greatest strength is the ability to understand complicated information and to explain things to others simply and clearly, and I take care not to speak too quickly. I have excellent knowledge of English grammar and can focus lessons on many different skill areas such as conversation, pronunciation, reading, essay writing, etc.
I am also able to assist with understanding many types of content courses in school/college/university. I can help with most areas of the elementary or secondary school curriculum including arithmetic, algebra, science, English Language Arts, social studies/history, and more.
You will need to share your English skill level with me and the skills or content areas on which you would like to focus, and I can tailor lessons to meet your needs or wishes. I can plan lessons for you as well as work with materials from your school. Lessons could include practice in the target skill area and/or guidance with homework and content knowledge.
If you are not an English language learner but would still like help with understanding difficult course material, there are many subjects that I would be able to help with.
I love to learn new things, and I enjoy helping all kinds of people to access knowledge and to meet their own goals.
