About Shonii
After teaching Language Arts and Composition to middle and high school students for 16 years in Massachusetts, I became a school administrator. I relocated to Phoenix seven years ago and continued as a school administrator, but, I miss working directly with students. I am looking for a way to reconnect with pupils.

I try to customize my lessons based on my students' interests, strengths and needs. I determine my pupils' level of prior knowledge and skill level initially and then begin to work on increasing their confidence about their skills next. Once a person is aware of their strengths, it is a easier process to begin working on the areas of need. Trust and respect between tutor and pupil can begin to develop. I use both conventional and less- conventional methods for instruction including videos, animated classics and comic book making as a means to increase literacy.
