About Jay
I have a B.A. in religious studies and I am currently tutoring to gain experience for teacher's college.
My education has involved a lot of essay writing, and I want to share what I have learned with students. Essay writing is a skill that students will need at some point in their education, regardless of their field.

My teaching methodology for essay writing involves practice. Writing is a skill that needs to be developed.
I like to have students give me a writing sample so I can evaluate where they are currently at, and how I can best help them.
A typical lesson would generally be me evaluating a writing sample that the student wrote for that lesson and critiquing it. That could involve structure, the contents of the essay, spelling, and/or grammar. I show the student what they did wrong and how they can do better, and make sure that they understand how they can improve.
I intend to help and am focused on students who are in or going to begin high school.
