Hello! My name is Marjory, and I am a TEFL/TESOL-certified English tutor with 20 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development.

I am passionate about helping students improve their English in a comfortable, supportive, and encouraging environment. I understand that learning a new language can feel challenging, so I make it my goal to help every student feel confident while developing their communication skills.

My lessons are personalized to meet your individual needs and goals. Whether you want to improve your conversation skills, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, or everyday English, I will create lessons that are practical, engaging, and relevant to your life.

My Approach as a Tutor

As a TEFL/TESOL-certified English tutor with 20 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development, I believe learning English should be comfortable, practical, and encouraging. My goal is to help students build confidence while developing the English skills they need for My Teaching Methods and Techniques

I use a student-centered approach that focuses on communication and real-life English. Lessons are adapted to each student's individual level, goals, learning style, and interests. I incorporate conversation practice, vocabulary development, grammar, pronunciation, reading, listening, and practical speaking activities.

I encourage students to participate, ask questions, and practice speaking without fear of making mistakes. I provide clear explanations, examples, positive feedback, and gentle corrections to help students improve naturally in everyday life, work, travel, and personal communication.

A Typical Lesson

Each lesson begins with a brief conversation or review of previous material. We then focus on the main goal for the lesson, such as improving conversation skills, learning new vocabulary, practicing grammar, or developing pronunciation.

Students have plenty of opportunities to practice speaking and using new language in realistic situations. We finish with a review of what was learned and, when appropriate, suggestions for practice between lessons.

My 20 years of teaching experience have helped me develop patience, flexibility, and the ability to adapt lessons to individual learners. My background in Human Development gives me an understanding of how people learn and the importance of building confidence along the way.
