About Harry

I love meeting people from different cultures and have worked and travelled in many different countries including Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Spain and Sweden. While travelling I discovered that I really enjoyed helping people with their English and so I decided to professionally train as a tutor. I have over two years' experience as an English language tutor, both online and face to face. I have also worked for a 'global education' charity and as an outdoor activity instructor in a forest school. So far in my career I have helped: school children improve their grades, university students pass exams, adults prepare for holidays and professionals meet their language goals in business.

About the lesson

My student-centred approach focuses on building confidence and finding joy in learning. Using a range of teaching methods I focus on the current needs of the student to meet both short and long term learning goals. I use a variety of audio-visual resources and my lesson plans typically include a fun warm up activity or game. In our first session we'll talk about any specific learning goals you might have as well as identifying some of your strengths and possible areas for improvement. My general English classes can help with: - Building confidence in spoken English - Improving grammar - School and University exam preparation - Essay writing style and proofreading - English for specific purposes e.g. travelling I have worked with business English students in fields such as: HR, law, recruitment, education and software development. My business English classes often include: - Interview and presentation preparation - Email writing practice and correction - Industry-specific language practice - Business scenario roleplays

Harry responds individually to both of my children's English tutoring needs (8th and 10th grades). He practises what they have learned at school with them, works on new exercises he has prepared, or provides assistance with papers/texts. At the end of the lesson he always has a fun little game or quiz prepared! He only speaks English which is great, so the children really have to speak.

The lessons are fun for my children and very entertaining. Harry comes to our house once a week at a fixed time, but he is also flexible. He also corrects homework/essays that have to be handed in the next day in homeschooling quickly by email!
