About Oluwaseun

My name is Oluwaseun Mary Abiola, and I am a certified English educator and TEFL-certified teacher with a B.Ed. in English Education and five years of classroom and online teaching experience.

I am passionate about helping learners develop strong English skills that support not only academic success but also confident communication, critical thinking, and independent learning.

My teaching experience spans primary and secondary education, with particular strength in reading, comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, writing, and examination preparation. I have worked with learners of different ages, abilities, and learning needs, and I understand that every student learns differently.

One of the things I value most as an educator is identifying why a learner is struggling, rather than simply focusing on the mistakes they make. A learner who struggles with comprehension may need vocabulary support; a learner who finds writing difficult may need help organizing ideas; and a learner who struggles with reading may need to strengthen foundational phonics, blending, and word-building skills first.

This is why my lessons are personalized around each learner’s current ability, learning style, and specific goals.

I believe effective teaching should be patient, intentional, engaging, and practical. Students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, express their ideas, practice what they learn, and gradually become more independent learners.

For younger learners, I create a supportive and engaging environment where English feels achievable and enjoyable. For older students and examination candidates, I provide structured instruction, targeted practice, and constructive feedback to help them improve their performance and approach assessments with greater confidence.

I also value communication with parents. Where appropriate, I provide feedback on a learner’s strengths, areas requiring improvement, and recommended next steps so that parents can understand their child’s progress.

Whether a learner needs to strengthen foundational English skills, improve school performance, prepare for an examination, or develop greater confidence in reading, writing, and communication, my goal is to make every lesson purposeful, personalized, and progress-focused.

Every learner can make meaningful progress with the right support, the right strategy, and consistent practice.

About the lesson

Learning English should be more than memorizing grammar rules. My lessons are structured to help learners read with understanding, communicate confidently, write effectively, and apply English correctly in real-life and academic situations.

As an experienced English educator and certified teacher, I use a structured, interactive, and learner-centered approach that is adapted to each student’s age, ability, learning needs, and goals.

Whether a learner is building foundational literacy skills, improving academic performance, preparing for an examination, or developing greater confidence in English, each lesson is designed to meet them at their current level and help them make steady progress.

Teaching Methodology

My lessons combine explanation, guided practice, independent application, and feedback. I use:

Reading & Comprehension
Learners work with age-appropriate texts to develop reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, inference, critical thinking, and the ability to identify and communicate key ideas.

Grammar & Language Skills
Grammar is taught using clear explanations, practical examples, sentence-building activities, and targeted exercises so learners understand not only the rule but also how and when to use it.

Writing & Essay Development
Learners receive step-by-step support with sentence construction, paragraph development, creative writing, descriptive and expository writing, formal and informal writing, and essay organization. Feedback is provided on grammar, vocabulary, structure, coherence, and clarity.

Spelling, Vocabulary & Foundational Literacy
For younger learners or students who need additional support, lessons can focus on phonics, letter sounds, blending, word building, spelling, vocabulary development, reading, and sentence formation.

Speaking & Communication
Conversation activities, role-play, discussions, storytelling, and guided speaking tasks help learners improve their vocabulary, fluency, pronunciation, listening skills, and confidence in expressing themselves.

Exam Preparation
For examination candidates, lessons include topic-focused revision, comprehension practice, writing tasks, past-question practice, examination techniques, time management, and constructive feedback.

My lessons are suitable for:

- Primary learners (Basic 1–6 / KS1–KS2) working on reading, comprehension, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and writing
- Junior and Senior Secondary learners (Basic 7–12)
- Students preparing for WAEC, NECO, BECE/JUNIOR WAEC, Common Entrance, and other school examinations
- Learners preparing for 11+ examinations and international assessments
- Students following British, Nigerian, or other international curricula
- Learners who need additional support with reading, spelling, comprehension, grammar, or writing
- Students who want to improve their spoken and written English

Lesson Duration

A standard lesson lasts 60 minutes and is structured to include explanation, guided practice, independent activities, and feedback.

For learners preparing for examinations or requiring more intensive support, 90-minute sessions can also be arranged for extended writing tasks, comprehension practice, revision, or timed examination activities.
