About Onalerona

Hi! My name is Ona, and I’m a TEFL-certified English teacher from South Africa. I’ve always been passionate about language and communication, and I enjoy helping others gain the confidence to express themselves clearly in English. I know how challenging learning a new language can be, which is why I aim to create a supportive and encouraging space where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.

I’m especially interested in teaching because I love seeing students grow in confidence and realize they can communicate more effectively than they thought. Teaching allows me to combine my passion for language with working closely with people from different backgrounds and helping them achieve their personal, academic, or professional goals.

My lessons are interactive, student-focused, and practical. Whether you want to improve your conversational skills, succeed at school or university, or communicate more confidently at work, I’m excited to support you on your English learning journey.

About the lesson

My approach to private tutoring is student-centred, supportive, and practical. I believe learning English should be engaging and confidence-building, so I tailor every lesson to each student’s goals, interests, and learning style. I focus on helping students use English naturally and confidently in real-life situations, whether for school, work, or everyday communication.

I am fluent in English and teach exclusively in English, adjusting my explanations and language to suit the student’s level. My lessons are structured but interactive, and typically include a short warm-up, focused work on speaking, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or writing, followed by guided practice, discussions, or role-plays. I always provide clear feedback and useful language students can apply immediately.

My lessons are suitable for beginner to intermediate learners, including children, teenagers, and adults. I especially enjoy working with students who want to improve their conversational English, academic English, or Business English, particularly young professionals who want to communicate more confidently at work.

My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel motivated, supported, and excited to improve their English.
