About ABHIJIT BARURI

Abhijit Baruri has been teaching tabla for the last 40 years in his hometown Malda. He has been an artist of Akashvani Radio and performed many times in Doordarshan. He teaches in Kolkata once a month. This man has started learning tabla since 4 years of age. He has his initial training from his father late Gopal Baruri. He made his debut solo performance when he was ten years old. Then he went to Pandit Shayamal Bose, the legendary tabla player of Farukkawad Gharana. He had his training from him till Shree Bose's death in 2003. Abhijit Baruri, it is no exaggeration to say, is a storehouse of the richest treasures of Tabla of various Gharanas. He wants to share all those valuable materials to the deserving young tabla learners.

About the lesson

Abhijit Baruri teaches in the traditional style giving importance to fingerings, clarity etc. without any hurry to get speed. Perseverance is the sole word of his teachings. He doesn't compromise on anything regarding 'Rewaj' (practice). Supervising himself on the course of practice, he made corrections in the student's fingerings and teaches them the easiest way to reach perfection in playing tabla.
