About Oliver
I achieved an A* in Politics at A-Level, including full marks on one paper, and I’ve gone on to deepen that academic foundation through both my degree and real-world experience in the political sphere. Over the past few years, I’ve worked with several of the UK’s most prominent think tanks, including the Institute of Economic Affairs, The Jobs Foundation, and the TaxPayers’ Alliance. These roles have allowed me to contribute directly to policy discussions and gain first-hand insight into how ideas shape legislation and public opinion. Alongside this, I have worked for a number of political candidates on their political campaigns, being hired as a campaign strategist for Labour and Independent candidates. Outside of think tank work, I’ve also built a profile as a political commentator and journalist. As part of Young Voices, I’ve written for national outlets and appeared on well-known programmes such as Sky News to debate current affairs. My work has been featured on the front pages of The Sun and The Daily Mail, giving me a unique understanding of how media and politics intersect. All of this feeds into my tutoring. I don’t just want students to learn what politics is—I want them to understand why it matters, how it functions in the real world, and how to engage with it critically and confidently.

My goal is to bring politics to life in a way that not only helps you achieve top grades, but also genuinely understand how the political world works. With years of industry experience and a degree from LSE, I can help you reach the top grades. My Approach: I believe that textbooks are useful—but not everything. To truly understand politics, students need context, real-world insight, and the ability to think critically about current affairs. I blend curriculum-based teaching with real-life examples drawn from my own experience working in politics. That includes contributing to major think tanks, influencing policy at government level, and appearing in national media to debate key issues. One of the key things that successful A-Level politics students understand is how important case studies are. Through combining theoretical textbook concepts and ideas with real-world examples, I will help you develop a well-rounded understanding of UK politics. Whether you’re tackling political ideologies, global or American politics or preparing for a difficult British politics question, I’ll show you how to think like a top student, and like a policymaker or political journalist as well. What to Expect: Teaching style: Clear, interactive sessions that combine exam prep with deep discussion. I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs, to help build confidence, analytical skills, and essay technique. Lesson length: Typically 60 minutes, with flexibility depending on your goals and needs. Experience & qualifications: I achieved an A* in A-Level Politics, and I’m now studying Politics at LSE, one of the world’s leading institutions for political science. I am entering my third and final year. Who I teach: A-Level Politics students, as well as GCSE English and History students looking for structured, engaging support. Why Work With Me? Studying politics shouldn’t feel like memorising a script. It’s about understanding systems, ideas, and how real decisions are made. I offer students the chance to learn from someone who lives and breathes politics—not just studies it. That insight can be the difference between a good grade and an outstanding one. Let’s make politics your strongest subject.
