About Harrison
I’m Head of Classics at an Outstanding independent school, a position I achieved after only a few years of teaching. I absolutely love teaching Latin in particular. As an early student of Latin, I really struggled with the grammatical concepts, until I was eventually taught by a teacher who gave me an approach that made sense. This is the approach I teach, and I love seeing students overcome their own obstacles. I put so much time and effort into breaking down complicated concepts into simple, bitesized chunks, to give students what they need to do the work. No time is wasted on irrelevancies, all time is spent on what YOU need and how to achieve a greater understanding of this beautiful language.

I have a great relationship with my students which is founded on patience and trust in the process. My approach focuses on block building, providing all the necessary steps for a student to overcome learning barriers. I have great success in enabling students in Latin and giving them the confidence they need to succeed in the subject. Latin is a fantastic subject to learn because a) it is very desirable from sixth forms and universities, b) it develops and tests different learning approaches, such as memorisation and problem solving, and c) it opens up a beautiful world of literature and history that is simply not taught in most schools.
