About Antony
I am an experienced and highly effective Online Maths Tutor, qualified teacher, and exam marker for GCSE Mathematics with over 17 years of teaching experience across a diverse range of educational settings. I hold a degree in Drama and a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Sussex, bringing a rare combination of analytical clarity, curriculum insight, and engaging, structured teaching to my lessons. As a specialist Maths Tutor, I have extensive experience teaching GCSE and iGCSE Maths across all major exam boards, including AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, and Cambridge Assessment International Education. I also provide expert tuition in A Level Maths (Edexcel), alongside GCSE Physics, Further Maths, and Statistics, with a strong emphasis on developing deep conceptual understanding alongside precise exam technique. In addition, I have taught Chemistry and Biology to Key Stage 4, as well as GCSE Drama, giving me a broad and adaptable teaching background. My career spans mainstream secondary and independent schools, as well as SEN and PRU settings, where I have successfully supported students with a wide range of abilities, including those requiring additional support and those aiming for the highest grades. This experience has developed a highly adaptive teaching style, enabling me to tailor explanations and pace to suit each learner, while maintaining consistently high expectations. In my role as Head of Secondary within an independent school, I have led on curriculum design, assessment strategy, and targeted intervention programmes. Combined with my experience as a GCSE Maths examiner/marker, this provides a detailed understanding of how marks are awarded and how students can maximise performance in examinations. I am particularly skilled at breaking down complex mathematical concepts into clear, logical steps that align directly with exam expectations.

My approach is structured, supportive, and results-driven. Lessons are carefully tailored to each student and typically include a combination of clear explanation, guided practice, and exam-style questions designed to build both confidence and accuracy under timed conditions. I will typically start with retrieval and then move on to topic teaching in chunks, following up with exam-style questions, and setting optional homework. I have been known to set Blooket and Kahoot activities at the end of group tutoring sessions. Students typically see clear improvements in both confidence and exam performance within a relatively short period of focused study.
