About Darcy

A bit about myself, I am very passionate about everything and anything about science, it has always captivated me in its ability to explain the world around us. This passion is the reason I decided to study science and teaching, because I would like to be able to pass that passion on to others and make them curious about the world around them while educating them in the ways it works. Naturally, with science comes a deep understanding of math as it's the foundation of the sciences, which has always pushed me to develop and evolve my mathematical understanding to the point that it is now. I have a bubbly personality and love chatting, which allows me to understand you as a student, inspire you and help you achieve your best.

About the lesson

I have a Bachelor of Science and am studying my master's of teaching, along with working as a teacher's aide at a high school, and I know from my experience that no one student is the same, and because of this, I like to tailor my teaching to the individual. I do this by finding knowledge areas of strength and weakness, getting to know the student and their personality, along with how they learn best (e.g., visual, physical, or audiological learner) and from this I work out a plan to target the areas of knowledge that are lacking and help, encourage and motivate the students' learning. A standard lesson is 1 hour; however, there is never a standard that works for everyone, so lesson length can always be adjusted to the students' needs or preferences. I teach math from K-12, including general and methods, along with science for 7-12, including Biology, Chemistry, & physics. My lessons are predominantly for year 7-12, but I'm more than happy to work with younger students. I have a police check and a Working with Children's check, so you can be sure of your child's safety.
