I've noticed that usually students will grasp the concept easily if it's aided by a practical demonstration wherever necessary. Even in subjects like mathematics, a teacher can very well put the concept to practical use and make the student remember the concept for the rest of his life.
In contrast to just mugging things up for exams, I've found my teaching method way better and it leaves a more lasting impression on the minds of the students.
