About Rachel

Hi, I'm Rachel! I am a Monash University student who self-taught Korean to the highest university level without living in Korea. I believe language comes alive through culture, not textbooks. My lessons are built on K-pop, K-dramas, literature, and real conversation, tailored to your goals and learning style. Whether you're a complete beginner or preparing for TOPIK, I'll guide you with patience and genuine encouragement.

I don't believe in boring textbooks or endless memorization. I believe in learning through what you love. Whether it's K-pop lyrics, drama dialogues, or deep conversations about history and literature, my lessons are designed to feel natural, engaging, and personal. I meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be, at your own pace, with no pressure.

About the lesson

1. Just Conversation
From casual chats to full debates, this lesson adapts to your Korean level. We discuss topics you care about, practice real-life dialogue, and build confidence in speaking and listening. No textbooks, no writing, just pure conversation.

2. K-pop & K-drama Starter Course
The perfect starting point for beginners! We learn Korean through the media you already love songs, movies, dramas, poems, and other arts. You'll pick up natural expressions, cultural context, and everyday vocabulary without even feeling like you're studying.

3. Korean Academic (Traditional Track)
For learners who want serious, structured progress. This course covers:
- Grammar structures in depth
- Heavy vocabulary building
- Reading and writing practice
- TOPIK exam preparation
Ideal if you're aiming for certification, university admission, or want to insanely improve your Korean level.

4. Korean Literature & History
Go beyond the language and into the culture that shaped it. We explore:
- Korean history and its impact on the language
- Classic and modern poems
- Short stories and literature
- Deeper cultural understanding through text

The first lesson is mainly a get-to-know for you and me, where we might do a little level test, have a conversation about what you are interested in, your motivations, expectations, and goals; to ensure I am able to support you to achieve those goals.

I love teaching in bigger groups so call a friend along and get 10% for each of you!
