Hello, I'm Kelly — a qualified counselor and experienced social work practitioner, with a Master of Social Work. with over 15 years of professional experience across diverse areas including child protection, mental health, family support, and social policy. I’m passionate about supporting the next generation of social workers to feel confident, capable, and connected to their purpose. As a qualified counsellor and experienced social work practitioner, my tutoring approach is warm, strengths-based, and tailored to each student's learning style and goals. I combine academic support with practical insights drawn from over 15 years of frontline and leadership experience in the social work sector, including child protection, mental health, policy, and community development.
My teaching methodology focuses on making complex theory accessible and relevant. I encourage critical thinking, reflective practice, and real-world application—essential skills for social work students at any level. I use case examples, guided questioning, and collaborative dialogue to deepen understanding, build confidence, and support skill development.
Typical lessons run for 60 minutes and can be extended upon request. Sessions are structured but flexible, depending on whether we're reviewing assignments, preparing for placement, discussing theory, or practicing interview or case note writing skills.
I support undergraduate and postgraduate social work students, including those completing field placements, distance learners, mature-age students, and students seeking additional support in areas such as writing, critical reflection, or managing study stress.
