About Marie
Singing has been part of my nine-year tutoring career, during which I have worked with 410 students, many of them adults returning to music after years away from it. My training combines early classical vocal study with a genuine love of contemporary music, letting me adapt easily to whatever style motivates a particular student. I am encouraging and patient, since I know firsthand how vulnerable it feels to use your own voice as an instrument in front of someone else. Many students arrive convinced they are simply not naturally musical, and helping them discover otherwise through steady technical progress is something I find deeply rewarding. Watching a nervous beginner eventually perform confidently for friends or family remains one of my favorite parts of teaching.

My singing lessons begin with breathing and posture, since most early vocal struggles trace back to breath support rather than any lack of natural talent. Warm up exercises are tailored to each student's current comfort level, gradually expanding range as technique becomes more secure over time. Repertoire is chosen together with the student, since genuine enthusiasm for a song consistently produces more consistent home practice than assigned material. I record short audio clips during lessons so students can hear their own progress developing, which builds motivation more effectively than verbal reassurance alone. Every few sessions I set aside time purely for informal performance, helping students grow comfortable singing without the pressure of active correction.
