About FELICIA

I am a dedicated English tutor with a strong academic foundation and extensive professional experience in higher education, arts administration, and professional writing. I hold advanced training in the visual arts from UC Berkeley, where rigorous academic writing, critical analysis, and research-based essays were central to my studies. This background allows me to guide students through clear structure, strong arguments, and polished written English.

Professionally, I have worked in gallery and academic environments where precision, clarity, and effective communication are essential. My experience includes writing and editing essays, artist statements, grant materials, educational content, and professional correspondence. Through this work, I developed a strong command of grammar, spelling, tone, and audience awareness, skills I now bring directly into my teaching.

As a tutor, I prioritize professionalism, reliability, and a supportive learning environment. My lessons are well prepared, goal-oriented, and tailored to each student’s needs. I focus on practical improvement, helping students understand not only what to change in their writing, but why those changes matter. This approach builds long-term confidence and independence.

I am especially passionate about working with students who want clear explanations, patient guidance, and constructive feedback. Whether you are preparing academic essays, applications, or professional writing, I aim to help you communicate with clarity and confidence. My goal is to make English writing feel approachable, structured, and empowering, while respecting each student’s voice, background, and learning style.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on essay writing, grammar, and spelling through clear guidance and practical examples. Drawing from my academic training and professional experience, I help students build strong structure, refine their voice, and communicate confidently in academic, creative, and professional English.

I am writing this recommendation for Felicia Alvarenga, who is my daughter. I have always been so impressed with her writing abilities and communication style. She has also had papers published through her experience through West Valley College, here in California. She is a very compassionate and caring person who takes great pride in any work she does and strives to instill the very best in others. Superprof would only stand to gain in their community by bringing Felicia onboard!
