About Tawny

I am a patient ESL instructor equipped with the knowledge that learning a language takes time and practice. I am a native English speaker from the United States, and I have a bachelor's degree in the principles and methods of language education, with a minor in online education. I am also TESOL certified.
I have been working as an online ESL tutor for some 10 years and have instructed hundreds of students. I have experience teaching both adults and children. Further, I am able to teach even very young children or true beginners and am skilled in the use of TPR. I have also been participating in a progressive school for improving teaching ability for over fifteen years, and have served as a full-time volunteer teacher for a worldwide organization for over fifteen years as well. This educational program has allowed me to put different teaching methods into action, progressively sharpening my abilities and adapting my teaching styles to fit the unique needs of each student.
I am currently residing in the United States. However, I had the privilege of living abroad for 9+ years. During this time, I was able to meet many ESL students and see first-hand the unique challenges that they often faced in real-life situations. I also saw how many of the things they had learned in a classroom setting, sadly, failed them miserably. This fresh perspective further fueled my determination to improve my ability as a teacher.
I strive to utilize only teaching methods that actually work. This also means avoiding a cookie-cutter approach. I like to take time to get to know my students' individual goals and challenges. Everyone has their own unique learning style and pace. Therefore, I work hard to find an approach that is perfect for each student as an individual.

About the lesson

This class is for those who have already been learning English for some time, but need more conversation practice.

You may find that this laid-back approach helps you become a more confident speaker. This can also naturally expand your comprehension & vocabulary as we explore a variety of conversation topics.
