Hello, I'm David, a classically trained pianist with a passion for teaching and a commitment to musical excellence. I studied and taught at the Conservatoire Debussy in Paris, and I hold an Honors Grade in the Senior Certificate Examination from the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM). I teach because I believe music should be both a discipline and a joy. Helping students grow in confidence, skill, and creativity is deeply rewarding. My goal is to create a structured yet supportive learning environment where each student can thrive, whether you're preparing for exams, performing, or simply playing for pleasure. My Approach to Piano Tutoring
As a pianist who has trained at the Conservatoire Debussy in Paris and a recipient of Honours in the Senior Certificate Examination from the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), my teaching philosophy blends the precision of classical training with a warm, student-centered approach.
Teaching Methodology & Techniques
My lessons focus on developing strong fundamentals—technique, posture, tone production, and sight-reading—while also nurturing expressive playing and musical interpretation. I adapt my methods to each student’s learning style, integrating classical repertoire, ear training, and theory in a way that keeps lessons both structured and inspiring. I encourage creativity, self-discipline, and musical curiosity.
Typical Lesson Length
Lessons are usually 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the student’s age, level, and concentration span. Beginners often start with 30 minutes, while more advanced students benefit from longer sessions.
Qualifications & Experience
Alongside my formal training and high-level qualifications, I have experience teaching both in private settings and at the Conservatoire Debussy where I assisted the head of Piano performance, Madame Truys, in teaching and assessing her students. This has given me a strong foundation in guiding students of all levels through graded exams, recitals and personal musical goals.
