About Sorren

My name is Sorren, I’m 18 and I aspire to be a primary school teacher! I have previous tutoring experience teaching 14-15 year olds in a Songwriting and lyricism seminar and also I have taught small groups of ages 12-13 one on one on how to play the drums and the guitar. I would like to venture into more academic teaching and expand my potential as an educator as although I’ve had no great experience as of yet, I have been told my teacher method is very affective and holds great potential. I received an A* in GCSE English literature and language and I have been predicted an A* in English Literature A-level and the same for Film studies (which is an essay and written exam based analytical subject); I have already received a distinction in Music. I am going to University to study further linguistics, I would love to tutor over the summer to become more integrated into the world of teaching in which I am very excited for!

About the lesson

I believe in a relaxed approach to teaching that accommodates that a person always feels most adaptive and willing to absorb information when they are comfortable in their learning environment.

At the moment I believe my skill set may pertain to early secondary school students who are studying for their GCSEs and primary school children who may need help building upon their basic literature skills. I know all of the A-Level material in great depth yet too. I believe in expanding pre-existing potential that a student already has yet that they may have difficulty accessing. I can work on feelings of low self esteem and improve a students confidence as sometimes the content to be learnt can feel like a struggle to overcome. I am a big believer in the idea that children are capable of much more than they believe. I look forward to working with young people like me to build their confidence!

I can teach much of what is in the GCSE and A-Level syllabus regarding English Literature including the works of Shakespeare, Tennessee Williams, Charles Dickens and also conventions and ideals of poetry, both modern and historical, having studied such works from Carol Anne Duffy, Simon Armitage and Ted Hughs and much more. I have a great passion for Poetry and look forward to hopefully inspiring an enjoyment for it in others!
