About Otis
Empowering students to find their voice on the guitar is at the heart of my teaching philosophy. Holding Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music, I combine formal training, performance experience, and 10+ years of teaching expertise. I begin lessons with foundational skills like posture, finger placement, chord transitions, strumming, rhythm, and tone, gradually introducing improvisation, phrasing, and composition. Music theory is integrated practically, making it accessible and relevant to the music students play. Each session is tailored to the student’s pace, goals, and style, creating a motivating and supportive environment. I emphasize both technical mastery and expressive playing to help students communicate emotion through music. Ear training, sight-reading, and performance exercises are included to develop well-rounded musicianship. Students explore genres such as classical, jazz, rock, blues, and pop to broaden musical understanding. Structured practice routines, feedback, and guidance help learners overcome challenges while maintaining engagement. Milestones are celebrated to encourage motivation and recognize achievements. I encourage improvisation, composition, and personal expression to help students develop a unique musical voice. Lessons balance discipline, technique, and creativity for effective learning. Over time, students gain technical proficiency, artistic expression, and performance confidence. Teaching guitar is more than instruction—it is mentorship, inspiration, and growth. My mission is to help every student find their unique musical voice. As a guitar tutor with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Music, I combine professional training with personal passion. My lessons are designed to be interactive, motivating, and tailored to your goals. We’ll build strong technique through structured exercises and real songs you enjoy. I teach both acoustic and electric styles, covering rhythm, melody, and improvisation.
I introduce music theory gradually so that you understand how songs are built. My goal is to make learning intuitive and creative rather than mechanical. I provide detailed feedback and easy-to-follow practice plans for steady progress. Students also develop confidence through stage preparation and expressive playing. I create a safe, positive space where mistakes are part of learning. My greatest satisfaction comes from watching students evolve into confident, expressive guitarists. To me, teaching isn’t just instruction—it’s partnership in your musical journey.
