About May

Hello! I’m May, and I’m passionate about psychology, neurodevelopment, and supporting learners—especially those who are neurodivergent—in understanding how their minds work so they can approach learning with greater clarity and confidence. I’m currently studying counselling and have over 15 years of personal exploration in psychology, along with lived experience as someone with ADHD and ASD.

I have a strong interest in executive functioning, study skills, and organization—skills that are essential for navigating both academic and everyday life. I first discovered my love for tutoring in high school, when I supported classmates in three languages. After years in executive management, building and leading a company, I’ve now changed careers to return to education and learner support—where my passion truly lies.

I enjoy breaking down complex ideas into simple, relatable explanations that connect with real-life situations. My approach is patient, structured, and student-led—focused on adapting to each learner’s pace, goals, and strengths.

I’ve also volunteered with children and supported neurodivergent family members, experiences that continue to shape my respectful and flexible approach.

Please note: I am not a licensed counsellor or psychologist. I provide educational and study skills support, not clinical or therapeutic services.

If you're looking for a tutor who values clarity, collaboration, and individual learning styles, I’d be glad to support your journey.

My approach to tutoring is supportive, personalized, and grounded in a deep understanding of how neurodivergent brains work, connecting practical strategies to current research and studies. I focus on building trust and offering tools that align with each adult learner’s unique way of thinking, learning, and organizing information. I use a strengths-based, person-centered approach that draws on skills from my counselling studies combined with evidence-informed teaching techniques. This includes breaking down complex topics using visuals, analogies, and supporting the development of executive functioning skills like task initiation and organization. Study skills are adapted to suit the learner’s individual needs and style.

A typical lesson runs for 60 minutes, but sessions can be adjusted in length to suit the learner’s attention span and preferences.

Alongside my current counselling studies, I have over 15 years of independent psychology study while raising my children. My tutoring approach is informed by lived experience as someone with ADHD and ASD.

My lessons are ideal for:

Adults changing careers or returning to study who want to better understand how their neurodivergent brain works

Those seeking educational support with psychology concepts, study strategies, motivation, and organization informed by current research

Anyone looking for personalized guidance to build practical skills and confidence in learning and work environments

Please note: I am not a licensed counsellor or psychologist. My services provide educational and study skills support and are not a substitute for clinical or therapeutic treatment.

Support is available throughout May and beyond—let’s create a learning space that is clear, practical, and empowering.
