About Laura

I'm currently a junior at Pioneer Academy, and I'm super excited to be working with you.
A little about me (outside of school). I love baking , reading , skiing ️, and traditional Kavkaz dances. Right now I’m interested in Greek mythology.
My favorite subjects are English and social studies.
I mostly work with younger kids, although I teach middle schoolers too.
A fun fact about me: I speak a rare language from the Northern Caucasus that most people have never even heard of!

About the lesson

I like teaching by being relatable and funny so that younger kids have fun while simultaneously learning important lessons.
I go over material they already know and help connect this with material they might struggle with.
I know 3 languages, so I work with many international students.
I use more visual and hands-on learning to promote engagement and better understanding.
A lesson plan might include: going over what the child learned that day and understanding what they struggle with. Then, using this, we can go into depth with what I can help them with.
Every session, I make sure to take notes on the students' progress, what to go over, and what we've done that day. This paper will be kept in the students' file, and a picture will be sent to the parent for every session --> for reflection purposes + to keep the parents updated.
