About Shidai

In my undergraduate studies at KU Leuven in Belgium, I developed my skills in critical thinking, analysis, and effective communication, as well as my passion for teaching and knowledge sharing.

As well, I have experience with the acquisition of foreign languages. While at Macau Polytechnic University, I studied Portuguese for one year. This experience taught me the importance of patience, persistence, and creative approaches to the acquisition of foreign languages.

A native speaker of Mandarin Chinese, I can speak the language fluently and without an accent because I was born and raised in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China.

About the lesson

The teaching method and techniques I employ as a tutor are geared towards creating a comfortable and engaging learning environment for my students. Throughout my teaching career, I am committed to building a strong rapport with my students, understanding their unique learning styles, and tailoring my teaching approach accordingly. To maximize the effectiveness of the learning process, I utilize a variety of teaching materials, including videos, audio recordings, and interactive exercises.

My lesson plan typically includes vocabulary, grammar, and conversation practice. As I believe conversation practice is crucial to developing fluency and confidence in using the language, I prioritize conversation practice in my lessons. Additionally, I incorporate cultural elements into my lessons, as I consider this to be an integral part of the learning process.

The most distinguishing feature about me as a tutor is my ability to empathize with my students and create a tailored learning experience for them. I am patient, supportive, and committed to helping my students learn the foreign language.

From the beginner to the advanced student, I am able to provide instruction in Chinese at every level. I am also capable of teaching specific topics such as HSK exam preparation, and academic Chinese.
