About Sharon

Hello! I'm Sharon Zhang! I recently finished the IB, achieving a 42.75 (98.9 ATAR) and a 32/34 in the Extended Essay in English. This has put me in the fortunate position of studying a Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of Oxford! In my first year at university, I have achieved the highest mark ever recorded for one module, and a first in 3/4 modules generally. I also have the skills to teach creative writing! As a published writer and editor for various literary magazines, I would love to mentor younger creative writers who are interested in the craft of developing a story. I'm a kind and patient tutor who will push you to improve your skills in various humanities subjects, especially English. Whatever your goal is, I'm here to help you achieve it.

About the lesson

My lessons are generally 60 minutes long, focused on improving your study habits and your general critical thinking skills. These skills will help you boost your essay writing and critical thinking, and help you get better grades in humanities subjects.

-- Friendly one-to-one lessons
-- 7 days a week text support for tricky questions!
-- Personalised lessons, tailored to your classwork

We'll review teacher feedback together, practice planning essays, and go through writing structure together.

IB students: I teach English, History, Psychology, and TOK, focusing on essay writing and critical thinking skills. I also offer support with the EE, IA, and HL essay for these subjects, where I will review your drafts and help you develop your ideas.

Creative Writing: I mentor eager creative writers from year 5 onwards. As an award-winning published writer and an editor for multiple magazines, I can provide advice and feedback to aspiring writers. Our meetings will involve discussing, responding to, and writing (of course) poetry and prose in a variety of genres. I also provide edits for both poetry and prose. I hope to inspire a lifelong love of contemporary literature!

UK applicants: As an Oxford student myself, I understand how hard it can be to apply to university overseas with little guidance. As a result, I offer history admissions tutoring and mock interviews to people who do not otherwise have support from their schools. In these lessons, we will work together on creating a personal statement, practice mock interviews, and if applicable, mock admissions tests. Generally 1-2 lessons is sufficient to wrap your head around the HAT and the application process.
