After first meeting and discussing your child’s goals, needs and learning style I will analyse the curriculum taught at their school and break the topics down into smaller, more digestible chunks. I will use techniques such as using a whiteboard and visually demonstrating topics, asking a list of questions every week to see your child’s stage of learning and to make sure they thoroughly understand a topic and offering personalised games and excitement to help your child’s focus and enthusiasm if this suits them. I will give advice on exam technique and what examiners are looking for as well as tips on how to approach exams and easing their anxiety and worries. I will focus on building confidence in your child’s abilities as I believe this can deeply affect their eventual test results and I will never humiliate or embarrass your child. Our lessons will be a safe and encouraging space where they feel comfortable to ask questions they may feel hesitant to ask teachers, and to help them appreciate how impressive their hard work is. I will help your child in the long-term by giving them revision techniques and exam tips to use as they progress throughout their school life. I personally have ADHD so I have many tips and advice to offer pupils with ADHD or other learning needs. Yet having the knowledge of learning with ADHD, I believe I can support pupils without learning needs by making learning and lessons that bit easier for them.
