About Sam

I am an undergraduate at the Royal College of Music studying with Gitte Marcusson, Simon Channing and previously with Adam Walker. I studied at the junior department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and was a finalist in the Lutine Prize competition there.

I was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, performing in venues such as the Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Symphony Hall, Birmingham, the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms and at the Konzerthaus, Berlin as part of the Young Euro Classic Festival.

As a soloist and chamber musician I have given performances throughout the UK and have worked on many recordings.

I have many years of experience in private teaching and also in working with larger groups of students through NYO's outreach scheme 'NYO Inspire.'

About the lesson

I am very enthusiastic about teaching and have enjoyed seeing my students improve. In the first lesson we will discuss the students personal needs and goals so that I can develop lesson plans tailored to each individual to help them achieve these and provide structure inside and outside of lessons. Along with learning the flute I will also cover music theory at an appropriate level for each student.
