About Eleanor
I have been teaching children in my local area aged 5 -13 years old from 2015. I ran these lessons person, so this is my first time teaching online, I'm excited to explore ways of teaching with this method. The work I have done includes help with homework, teaching subjects that were missed in school or that students needed extra help with (Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, Religion, French, ICT, Art) and extra curricular subjects such as Music, Cooking and Art. As a Fine Art student, I make videos and a lot of digital work, so I am very familiar with experimenting with online ways of communication and online materials.
My qualifications include a Distinction in Art and Design Foundation, A Level in History, Philosophy and Ethics, 1 A* and 9 A's at GCSE, grade 5 in piano, grade 5 in cello and Grade 5 in music theory. I have experience volunteering in a Rainbows Girl Guiding group, where I led group activities. I have worked in Waitrose and on a farm/farm shop. My main interest in the past few years has turned towards art, with a love of creativity and expression of philosophy. I am interested in teaching in a way that creates interest and passion, encouraging minds to learn in order to broaden perspective, even starting with children at a very young age. I played a lot of sport when I was younger and represented my school in hockey, netball, athletics and football tournaments. I am a twin and one of six children and I have helped both younger and older siblings with understanding school homework, teaching them any areas where the approach taken in school didn't work for them.

The way I teach largely depends on the subject I am teaching and the student(s) I am teaching. I am flexible with my methods of teaching, personalising the method to the student. I look to make learning fun, approachable and confidence boosting. I encourage children to ask questions relating to a subject so that we can work through any problems and I set tasks in order to allow practice, build confidence and understanding.
