I am currently a final year History student at the University of York. I have not tutored before, but I have recently been through the examination process, so I completely understand how daunting the content and technique is. I want to share my experiences with other students, and reassure them that they can reach the desired grades. I strongly believe in practice makes perfect. Whilst I do not have any official teaching experience, I am incredibly passionate about History; I want to ensure others can feel the same.

My teaching methodology will always be based around the student. I want to ensure that students get the most out of the sessions, therefore I will ask what he/she wants to cover.
In the hour sessions, we will go over a wide range of things: content, structure, clarity and accuracy (grammar etc.). We will look at a basic approach, and then apply them to essays and primary source questions. As I said before, practice makes perfect!
I will also cover skim reading-this is a really important skill for exams, and even at university.
Another important aspect of History relates to memorising dates. I have mastered a couple of techniques that I really think will benefit students struggling with this aspect of GCSE or A-Level courses.
I strongly believe in empowerment and patience. I will always look at students' work, and strive to give honest and encouraging feedback.
