About James
My name is James McKean and I am a second-year student at the University of Melbourne, majoring in French language and politics. I started studying French in my first year of high school in 2019, completing VCE French in 2024 and continue to study it today. I am a B2 level French speaker, currently taking the French 5 subject. I completed French 4 in 2025 with a final grade of 90%. I have always been very passionate about the French language, making French friends who I speak with in their own language, visiting New Caledonia for school, attending every French club event at university, etc. I would love to be able to able to use my interest in this subject professionally. I look forward to meeting you in our lessons!

My tutoring techniques will be allowing the student to take lead of their own learning, while providing support and guidance. The typical length of a lesson will be one hour. My experience tutoring includes holding informal lessons for students in the library every day after school. I helped students with grammar, speaking, writing and many other skills in preparation for the exams. I also participated in a language exchange with local students in New Caledonia in 2024. My lessons are aimed towards students of all ages.
